I am an international yoga instructor and healthy living blogger at http://www.yogabycandace.com. I am passionate about yoga, food and nutrition, and living a healthy lifestyle. I fell in love with yoga over fifteen years ago, when my mom brought me to Kripalu Yoga Center. From there, I began taking yoga classes and workshops in the surrounding towns. At first, the practice was more physical for me, but when I began my career as a Spanish teacher, I started to really count on yoga to bring me a sense of calm during especially chaotic days. Soon after, I began recognizing the benefits of a regular asana and meditation practice and continued to incorporate yoga daily- not just during times of chaos. I found myself feeling more energized, more compassionate, happier, and with more awareness. My career as a Spanish teacher was put on hold shortly after when my husband's job took us out of state and eventually to Europe.
Yoga is a great tool for self-inquiry and as an instructor, I encourage students to turn inward during their practice to experience a meditation in motion and be an observer of their bodies and minds. That being said, I like to create classes with playful sequencing, and approach the class with a sense of honesty, and humor. I try to cater to the physical needs of the students while making sure to deliver a practice that intends to unify the mind, body, and soul.
I completed a yoga teacher training in Thailand through Tribe, a registered member of the European Yoga Alliance, Yoga Alliance, and The Yoga Register. I've studied many different types of yoga including Vinyasa Flow, Ashtanga, AcroYoga, Restorative/Yin Yoga, Hot Yoga, Power Yoga, Osho and Bikram. I am passionate about yoga and take workshops and master classes are often as I can. I like taking elements from all of these practices to create my own dynamic flow and restorative classes.
I have worked with all types of people. Clients include professional athletes and dancers as a supplement to their training programs. I have also created sequences for people as part of their rehabilitation program when coming back from an injury. I have created yoga programs for people who have specific goals (better golf game, improved flexibility, etc). I have designed sequences for people facing a number of health issues and working with limitations.
